AWS ER70S-6 Welding Wire is a specification for a type of steel filler wire used in welding. The "ER" stands for "electrode or rod," the "70" indicates the minimum tensile strength of the weld metal in thousands of pounds per square inch (psi), and the "S" indicates that it is a solid wire. The "6" indicates that it has a higher level of deoxidizers (elements that help to remove oxygen from the weld pool) than other ER70S filler wires, which helps to improve the quality of the weld.

AWS ER70S-6 Welding Wire is a wire with a high deoxidizer content, made of low carbon steel, for welding steels with moderate amounts of scale or rust. (Compared to other carbon steel welding wires, Type ER70S-6 wire has a higher deoxidizer content. This wire is suitable for welding steel with a moderate amount of scale or rust.
When using ER70S-6 (ER49S-6) in combination with gas shielded metal arc welding (MAG), use pure CO2 (classified as C1 according to AWS A5.32) or a mixture of argon + CO2.
AWS ER70S-6 Welding Wire is a good choice for weldments that require a better connection and wetting than 70S-3 electrodes. It is a good choice for welding pressure vessels. It is an excellent choice for pressure vessels, structural steel, piping, steel buildings, and automotive repair.
AWS ER70S-6 MIG wire with higher manganese and silicon content than other standard grades is used to produce high-quality welds on dirty, oily, or rusty steel. The high silicon content increases the fluidity of the molten pool, which produces a smoother weld channel appearance and minimizes post-weld grinding. The wire has been carefully designed to provide a porosity-free, X-ray quality weld at the highest tensile strength (when welded) of any plain carbon steel wire.
This product requires a shielding gas: CO2 and/or CO2 mixture.
ER70S-6 MIG wire provides excellent spatter control and enhanced weld channel profile.
Excellent rust and oxide skin resistance, excellent wetting quality and high fluidity of the weld pool.
The wire consisting of manganese and silicon has the highest deposition strength compared to all other carbon steel MIG wires.
The wire includes good washout resistance at the weld toe and flat welding beads reducing defects, scrap and rework.
This product is the general MAG / CO2 welding wire and suitable for all-position welding. welding wire is ideal for welding on metals with moderate to high presence of dirt, rust or oxide and can be used as industrial, agricultural, construction and mining equipment.
Wire is well suited for single-pass welding in sheet metal applications, multi-pass welding of thick sections, all-position welding, butt and fillet welding of thin plates and sheets of various thicknesses, and general carbon steel construction.
The wire has stable arc at low currents , less sparks and splashing, and adapt to larger current range.
The wire complies with AWS 5.18 and is also well suited for automotive repair and HVAC ductwork.
